People With a Difference

From the very beginning, ‘recruiting different’ has been part of our heritage. We know that to offer a service different from the larger branded companies, we need people who are different – so we work hard to recruit the kind of people we love to work with.

People who strive for quality, who have the energy for excellence – but who are also fully-rounded individuals with passions and interests beyond their career.  These multi-faceted people would find training contracts at larger firms restrictive and prohibitive – but they flourish in our kind of culture.

We look for young trainees with ‘something else’ in their lives – be it sport, cultural activities or family – and find this always brings an added depth and dimension to our team.

TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

Young accountants of the future will be happy to hear that Keogh Ryan Tierney is on an accelerated growth path gaining new large audit clients of substance in the region. Happily, this creates opportunities for trainees to secure quality and varied experiences with us – as well as for promotion within the firm.

"Each year we recruit for our
Audit Department and Tax Department"

When?

Each year we recruit for our Audit Department and Tax Department, depending on our requirements, beginning the process of graduate recruitment in the October of each year.

We are a Chartered firm and therefore graduates joining our Audit Department generally train as Chartered Accountants following the program set out by Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Our policy, as recommended by Chartered Accounts Ireland ensures that every CA trainee gains work experience under a training contract for a fixed period of time which covers study leave over and above CAI guidelines and we cover payment for exam and course fees.

"We value our trainees and realise
they make a huge contribution"

What?

We value our trainees and realise that they make a huge contribution to the firm. That’s why we make sure they gain experience that’s broad and deep during their time with us – and are paid market rate for their contribution.

As a trainee, you’ll work within a structured environment and under the supervision of the firm. This will help you develop the professional values, technical/functional competencies and the personal and interpersonal attributes that make for a successful Chartered Accountant.

How?

Ours is a learning, nurturing and supportive environment. No questions are ‘stupid’ and no chance to learn is denied. We encourage all of our trainees to ask questions while our more senior staff enjoy training and mentoring our junior team members.

From an auditing point of view, we encourage trainees to spend as much time as possible working at a client’s premises. We believe this makes for an efficient and robust audit process – while also introducing trainees to different systems of accounting and controls.

APPLICATION PROCESS

If you’re ready to develop your career in audit at a dynamic, cutting-edge practice with a different way of thinking, we’d like to talk. If you have a passion for what you do, are hungry to learn but also know the value of a well-rounded, work-life balance, you might just find your niche with us.

What you’ll have

You’ll have completed your college degree, and you’ll be interested in a career in audit or taxation – and bring it to life with strong interpersonal and communication skills. You’ll ‘get’ what it means to work in a tight-knit team but also have the confidence and initiative to make things happen.

What you’ll be

A career at Keogh Ryan Tierney will talk to you if you’re looking for a firm and career with a difference.

As an audit trainee you will sit the exams with Chartered Accountants Ireland, and become a qualified Chartered Accountant during your time with us.

You’ll enjoy progression and sound career planning, but you’ll also be excited by our energy and culture that encourages life passions beyond the office. You’ll be excited to work alongside industry-leading partners who’ll generously pass on their knowledge and skills.

I joined Keogh Ryan Tierney in 2020 as a Co-Op student. Having had no previous experience in accounting was a challenge. However, everyone within the firm was helpful and friendly. This was particularly the case during the Covid-19 pandemic when working remotely. Following on from the fantastic experience that I gained from my Co-Op placement I was delighted to be offered a training contract when I finished my undergraduate degree.

Upon completing my Degree in Business Studies from the University of Limerick, I re-joined Keogh Ryan Tierney in 2021. I registered with Chartered Accountants Ireland to continue with my accounting exams. Keogh Ryan Tierney works with a broad range of clients, the majority of which are audit-based clients. This has provided me with excellent exposure to large companies within different industries. This will greatly benefit my professional development and future career prospects.
